Strategic Alliances

Other Moonwalk Companies

Online

Learn from your peers! If you see something on another companies' site you like, e-mail them and ask about it. Maybe you want to know how hard it is to handle a jumbo slide or who someone uses to process credit card payments. Ask them. People in this business are typically very friendly.

In Town

My competition? You can't be serious! Yes, we are. Most places across the country have plenty of opportunity for moonwalk rentals- their biggest problem is awareness. If you have to pay to educate your entire market that moonwalks are fun and affordable, you are going to spend a lot of money on advertising!!

Form alliances with other moonwalk companies in town. You can refer business to them when you are busy and they can return the favor. In a really strong alliance, you might be able to sublet their equipment for overbookings or allow them to sublet yours when they are busy. Working together can mean long-term success for both of you.

Other Party Services

Contact companies offering party planners in your town and offer your services. One tactic is to have them rent moonwalks for parties they are planning and you charge them for unattended prices. They can then charge their client attended prices and either attend the moonwalk themsleves or hire someone to do it.

Offer party planners a discount after their 5th rental as a "volume" renter. Make it contingent on continuing to rent your equipment. If they don't rent at least x additional pieces of equipment a year, their rates go back to full price.

Parks

Do a little research on your local parks. Will they allow a moonwalk setup in the park? The gymnasium? On a tennis court? If so, are outlets available nearby? How much are rental fees?

Include in your marketing that you have suggestions for places for moonwalk parties for families with limited space. This also gives you an opportunity to suggest an indoor backup facility in case of bad weather or during cold months. If you can offer clients an option for moving the party indoors, you could save a rental that you would otherwise lose.

Party Places

Where do families go for parties in your area? Could you combine a moonwalk rental with a party package they already offer? Do your research, approach the other companies, and see what you can agree upon.

Existing party spots may find their popularity eroding as children "have already done that". It is to their benefit to offer new and exciting packages to keep families coming back. These places may be restaurants, bowling, skating, movies, children's theater, or any number of other possibilities.

If you are successful in forming an alliance, it would be another great reason to send out a press release!
