Free or Reduced Fee Setups
If you have no budget for marketing or live in a highly competitive area, focus on this strategy.
Homes
Pick high traffic locations across from schools, daycares, or near a busy intersection where people have to stop. Try to find friends that live in these locations or simply walk up to the door and offer the person that lives there a free weekday moonwalk party.
Setting up in front of a school is ideal. Parents will be waiting in their cars at pickup time for several minutes and will have time to write down your information. Leave the moonbounce up through the evening drive time for maximum exposure.
Pick your targets wisely. Any setup will help attract attention but for the most return for your efforts, think about where moms go and whether or not they will have time to read and write down your information. (You've already read Signs, haven't you?)
Commercial Lots
Commercial parking lots are great- especially ones in high traffic areas. Call them and offer a free setup. You can man the bounce and offer free rides to kids in the area or charge $1-$2. Or simply set it up for show and don't offer any rides. (You will still have to keep an eye on it- children will find it!) The point is visibility and
SIGNS. You want kids and moms to see it and remember it at party time.
If you can find any way to hand out business cards- do it! Make it as easy as possible for people to get in touch with you.
Churches and Daycares
Churches and daycares also offer opportunities for exposure. Make sure you are clear that you are offering them a one-time discount or you will be expected to return for every event for free/very little. Wear and tear at these events tends to be higher than the average party as well. Don't let that influence you too much, but do keep in mind the work involved and the use of the unit when lining up free rentals.
Garage Sales, Block Parties, Family Reunions
Streetwide or multi-family garage sales are a great place to set up as well as block parties and family reunions. If you need business, find these opportunities and offer them a discount.
Geographic Location
Remember your target geographical area. If you setup 60 miles away, you will probably get calls to do more setups 60 miles away. If you want that business, that's great. Most people will find that they have plenty of business closer than that and end up turning down the far away requests.
