Making Flyers

If you have a computer and a word processing program, you have all you need to create effective flyers. They do not have to be design-award winners. What they have to do is accomplish a purpose; typically they need to let the reader know who you are and what you do and move the reader to call you to make a reservation.

Remember- birthday parties are fixed events. If you can get someone to go ahead and make a reservation for 3,6,or 9 months in advance, that is great. Offer an incentive for them to call TODAY.

Flyers should be eye-catching (This does not mean beautiful- just memorable. Loud and bright sometimes catches the eye more than sleek and subdued. Try to reflect the attitude of your company). People should feel curious to want to read your details. The best way to accomplish this is with an image or picture wherever possible or bright colors on a simpler text design.

Distributing Flyers

If you are a bold person, ask at the local mall, grocery stores, and movie theaters if you can distribute flyers. The answer is typically no, but you may get a yes if you keep trying! You will also need to ask before placing flyers on windshields. If you don't, you might be able to get away with it but how will people feel about your business if they are irritated by your method of delivery?

If you do want to distribute flyers in your community, check into local ordinances on littering before you do. If your flyers are considered a nuisance or litter, you could be fined.

The best way to distribute flyers is through schools, daycares, and local businesses. To get them to agree, you may want to offer them one of the following:

• A Gift Certificate for a free weekday rental that they can use for a fun day, enrollment festival, or carnival
• A Gift Certificate for a weekday rental that they can auction off at a fund-raiser.
• A referral program where they can earn a free weekday rental for every 5 rentals they refer to your company.

If schools and childcare centers are opposed to sending flyers home with the kids, offer them a business card holder or flyer holder with your literature that they can place in a public area for parents to pick up.
